Timothy (“Tim”) Price, Jr. will debut his gifts as SPC’s Music Director, Sunday, July 22. He will serve part-time, beginning the week of July 16 and hold his first choir practice on Thursday, July 19.
Tim holds a BMUS in Organ Performance from East Carolina and a MMUS in Sacred Music. He has worked extensively with churches in the Greenville area over the past ten years. He recently completed a MAT degree in Elementary Education, also from East Carolina and last fall, began a full-time position as a fourth-grade teacher in the Portsmouth City Schools. Desiring to continue with a part-time church position in this area, Tim kindly responded to our position announcement.
God has indeed blessed us by leading us to an accomplished and gifted individual who we believe will be an excellent fit for our church. Throughout the interview process, Tim favorably impressed the Personnel Ministry Team with an exceptional resume, a strong educational background, and a Christian commitment for sharing his musical talents. His references confirmed that he was a talented musician who works well with choirs and congregations. All three references said we would be fortunate to hire him.
Thanks be to God!
The worship service at 10 a.m. on Sunday July 15th was a special celebration of the work of the Spirit in the roots of Edmarc Hospice for Children and the Children’s Center here at Suffolk Presbyterian and the continuing presence of the Spirit in those two agencies. Significantly, Edmarc was founded at SPC 40 years ago and out of Edmarc, the Children Center was founded 35 years ago. Those “mustard seed” beginnings have indeed put forth much fruit.
The church hosted Joan and Allen Hogge, Debbie Stitzer-Brame, Executive Director of Edmarc and Rosalind Cutchins, Executive Director of The Childrens Center. These presentations focused on the history of these organizations and the work they are doing now. Both past and present board members and staff of both organizations were in attendance.
The worship service was followed by a catered reception and opportunity for fellowship.
